Craignethan Hotel change

Added on 18 November 2007

The planning application to change the Craignethan Hotel to eight residentail flats has been passed by South Lanarkshire Council on 6 November; this in spite of a number of objections.

The SLC view is that it's better to 'go' residential rather than have it fall into disrepair.  Surely the owner would go that extra 'mile' to re-instate or sell the building as a going concern rather than see it lose value by falling into disrepair, if SLC had resisted the application, or pushed for action at an earlier stage?

It's a great pity that the village loses another potential commercial facility to provide meals, bed and breakfast accommodation, etc. in the village, as it used to do.
