Order of Tiron Visit Priory Ruin

Added on 01 August 2011

Visitors from the Order of Tiron in France visited Lesmahagow on 4th July. They are researching their ancestry as it was monks from their order which founded the Priory in the 12th Century. The guests were treated to lunch in the new Fountain then a walk round to the Priory ruins, where a new information board has been erected to tell a little of our history. That was followed by a tour of the Parish Church, where the visitors were told about the wall hangings and the building. In the Chapter House they got to see a detailed model of the old Priory. It was a glorious summer day and the tour was enjoyed by local people as well as our French visitors.
